Latino Student Association
The Latino Student Association (LSA) was founded on April 1, 2009, by Dr. Marta Miranda, Cuban-American, and Dr. Socorro Zaragoza, Mexican. The association was originally named the Latino Student Union; however, the name was changed due to confusion with Lousiana State University.
The mission of LSA is to “provide education about the diversity of Latino culture; organize and promote Latino cultural events and holidays, and to actively engage in advocacy and activism that promotes access to higher education for Latino students. LSA at EKU seeks to create a community where incoming Latino students find support and encouragement on campus.”
Students interested in joining LSA can visit their Instagram @lsa_eku or Engage page. Students are also encouraged to visit the LSA office in room 221 of McCreary Hall. LSA meetings will vary based on semesters.
